About Mauritius:
The Republic of Mauritius is located in South Africa on the Indian Ocean east of Madagascar. The country has an area of 2,040 km2, and is characterized by its tropical and dry climate and its coastal plains surrounding the mountainous nature of the land. With a total population of 1.2 million, its capital, Port Louis, is the most populous of its cities. The culture of Mauritius is dominated by ancient traditions mixed with French heritage. It is characterized by a mix of multinationals and cultures in most parts of the country. English is used between them as the official language. The official currency is the Mauritian rupee, and the country has an open economy, with a gross domestic product of about $31.7 billion USD.
